The Petrified Forest of the Black Hills in Piedmont, South Dakota first opened to the public as a tourist attraction in 1929. Over the decades, it developed into a family-friendly destination featuring an educational video, an indoor museum, and outdoor hiking trails to view the ancient fossilized logs. It was once a major tourist attraction, but has since aged.
John and Anja Carly recently purchased the Piedmont Petrified Forest. Their goal is to modernize the Museum. They want to communicate the evidence for the worldwide flood and a young earth creationist perspective that is demonstrated by the catastrophically deposited petrified logs.
What if creation-based artists, geologist, visionaries, and people willing to work hard showed-up to help them? Just like the old days when families would help raise the barn of their neighbors, what if we showed-up to help fellow creationists to update their museum as a way to be used as an outreach to the tourists of the Black Hills of South Dakota?
Things that need to be done:
Interpreting surrounding geology
Design
Building and making new displays
Electrical
Upgrading signage
Artwork
Painting
Construction
The vision is to invite fellow creationists to use their talents and knowledge to help “raise the barn”! Can you image the great times of fellowship and adventure that we will all have together?
This Barn Raising will take place during the entire month of April 2027. You don’t have to come for the whole month! You can come for a day, or for the whole month. It’s up to you!
